Bamboo Style - Boho Waves Tousled Texture Mist

Bamboo Style - Boho Waves Tousled Texture Mist
From July Glossybox 2013
I've decided today to review a hair product, which is a little bit different to my usual posts regarding make up and skin care, I wanted to mix it up a little you see. So I hope you like it. You may recognise this item from my July Glossy Box post and I thought that now I have used nearly half of it, it was in need of reviewing. So let's get started shall we?

Firstly I would point out that when I subscribed to Glossy Box, I put down that I have curly/wavy hair in the questioned it asked me, which I do, so this item may well be better for that sort of hair type. I've used this quite a few times on the odd occasion over the past two months and can honestly say I really like it. It is light weight in your hair, smells rather nice and does give you tousled waves or more defined tousled waves in my case. One thing I would say about this though, is that it doesn't stay in for too long and if it is rainy or windy this is going to drop out, but I suppose a bit of hairspray would do the trick. All you do is spray this root to tip onto dry or damp hair and run your fingers through it and scrunch it a little to get the desired look. But personally I couldn't put it in my roots due to my hair becoming greasy, but you guys can go ahead and do that if you like, but it gave the same effect nonetheless. I do like this product but to be honest it's nothing that a little bit of mouse and hair spray can't do, that may make me a little old school. However, I did enjoy using this mist as it's something different.

I hope you enjoyed this hair related post, isn't it nice to have a change from the usual make up and skin care posts once in a while? If you have any suggestions on what I should try or blog about next, please leave a comment below, it would be much appreciated and would make my day :)

Birthday Beauty Treats

L-R: Syrup Lustre Lipstick - Mac, Celestial - Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer, Collection 16 hour Lasting Perfection Concealer  in Light (2), Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in 003 Glow, Superdrug's 100% Pure Cotton Wool Round Pads & Superdrug's Facial Cleansing Wipes in Camomile.
Now for my 20th birthday I got well and truly spoilt, now I'm not one of those to brag because I'm not like that, but I do like however to show people and discuss what I brought and what the beauty products are like. So I hope you like the things I brought or that were gifted, some were just repurchases for my everyday make up and skin care routine, but odds and ends were brought and gifted for the first time. Hope you enjoy :).
Mac Lustre lipstick in Syrup
Now lets get started with the most exciting item of all, the Mac lustre lipstick in Syrup. Now I am all about affordable beauty and can honestly say that I wouldn't personally buy a Mac product due to the price tag, but this was a gift that I was extremely excited about. This is my first ever Mac product and my cousin brought this for me and I couldn't be thankful enough, it's in a beautiful Mauve shade that I adore and it suits my skin tone beautifully. Even though I am all about the affordable beauty sometimes it doesn't hurt to splurge when you have the money, so I may just treat myself to a Mac lipstick sometime in the future, but for now I'm going to stick to this lipstick and save my pennies for drug store products.

Rimmel Apocalips in Celestial £6.49 & Rimmel Stay Matte powder £3.99
But 2 Rimmel products and get the 2nd half price at Superdrug.

Similarities in colour -
Top: Rimmel Apocalips in Celestial, Bottom: Mac Lustre Lipstick in Syrup.
Next is the Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer in Celestial. I have seen so many people rave about these on YouTube, in blogs as well as magazines and I thought because it was buy 2 Rimmel products and get the 2nd half price I thought I'd get it. I had been indecisive in whether I should buy one in the first place as I'm more of a lipstick/balm stain type of girl, but I went ahead and brought it. I love this shade. To be honest I can see a similarity in the colour of both the Mac lipstick and the Rimmel lip lacquer, however they are different in texture. So if you want a similar colour why not go for Celestial. What I can say now that I have been wearing Celestial for a few days, is that I do love the colour but the texture of the lip lacquer isn't great, it's really wet on the lips for some reason and I feel it doesn't stay on the lips for very long. Oh well I may feel differently if I wear it more.

Now on to a repurchase, the Rimmel Stay Matte powder which I absolutely love, it keeps you feeling matte all day, which is exactly what my skin needs. A bit boring to buy this with birthday money but oh well I needed it as mine has hit pan almost and I felt the need to stock up.

Collection 16 hour Lasting Perfection Concealer in Light (2), £3.69, Superdrug.
Moving on... I brought the Collection 16 hour Lasting Perfection Concealer in the colour light (2). I needed a new concealer as mine was getting to the point of running out and I needed a shade of concealer that matched me a little better because I have only been wearing concealer and powder as of late. So I gave into the hype shall we say and brought the well recognised concealer. I can honestly say after two days of using this it is amazing; it covers really well, is a great colour match and lasts all day. Also it is £3.69 in Superdrug for limited time only instead of £5.99 I believe. So grab it while you can girls.

Superdrug's 100% Cotton Wool Round pads £1.69 & Superdrug's Facial Cleansing Wipes in Camomile, 99 p
Next are two other repurchases which are a little bit boring compared to the other stuff I brought or the Mac lip stick that was gifted, but I'm going to mention them nonetheless.  I purchased the Superdrug 100% cotton wool pads. I definitely was in need of more of these as I am running out rather quickly. I tend to use these with my B.Pure cleanser which I swear by and without this combination my skin would be terrible right now. Lastly, I brought some Superdrug facial cleansing wipes in a Camomile scent as I have used these before and feel as though they take off all your make up and make your face feel fresh and squeaky clean. But to be honest I tend to use any type of make up wipes but I do prefer these Superdrug branded ones. They have them in different scents too as well as unfragranced ones for you sensitive skin people out there.

I hope you liked this post. Also you may notice the difference in picture quality and that is because I had a new camera off my boyfriend, so the picture quality is better for guys. If your interested in the model of the camera it is a Nixon Coolpix L27 and I can say if you are a starting out blogger this camera works a treat.

Hope you enjoyed,

Easy Steps To Revive Your Skin.

As of late I have been really trying to take care of my skin more, mainly because I'm turning 20 this month and I want my skin looking fresh. So over the past few weeks I have been sticking to a skin ritual, and you know what? It's worked for me, so I hope this helps you in the same way. It may not be for everyone but you can switch and change it up. So here it goes, how I have revived my skin.

Firstly, I will mention that every morning I use some kind of face wash/scrub to energise my skin and make it look less dull looking and more awake. Lately I have been using the L'oréal Paris Perfect Clean Foaming Gel Wash (review coming soon). But if we are talking about a night time routine, which is normally where the skin magic happens, my routine is a little more complex.

I love to give my face a good wipe over with a make-up remover wipe to get the main bulk of my face and eye make-up off. I then use my B.Pure cleanser (reviewed here) with a cotton pad or two and wipe it over my face. I find with this it helps to do the face wipe step before so that you're just removing the left over make up and dirt, and cleansing the skin of impurities. Then I go back over with another make-up wipe so my face isn't sticky.

I mean you could leave it there your skin would feel so refreshed, but sometimes when your skin just isn't looking too great or you've had a bad day I think a good old face mask works a treat. I've been using my Superdrug, Mud Therapy Deep Cleansing Mud Mask (reviewed here), to really detoxify the skin even more and bring all that sunken in dirt right out. Sounds awful doesn't it all this talk of dirt and what not, but its got to be done to keep that face feeling healthy and fresh. I tend to place a thin/thick layer on problem area's such as redness and spots, then leave it until it's dry and wash it off. You could even stop there but I sometimes go even further and use nose strips for dirt and blackhead removal.

A few months ago on Ebay I ordered some OSIRIS Clear Pore Nose Strips for around 99 p each and I can tell you they work amazingly. After I've done my main routine, wet wipe, cleanser, wet wipe, adding or taking away the mud mask, I wet my face and stick one of these carefully over my nose. I sometimes wet the strip a bit more so it has enough dampness to dry and do it's job, leave it to dry and when you remove it your nose feels great. Also you can see it working by looking a the dirt removed on the pad. One thing I would say about these nose strips is that you may need to wipe your nose over once you have removed the strip, as some of the gluey substance on the pad stays on the skin around the cracks of your nose.

Well that's it on my ways of reviving your skin. To be honest this may work for some and not for others, but it works for me and my skin in now in good condition, still the odd blemish here and there but oh well, at least you feel all lovely, refreshed and cleansed.

Hope you enjoyed,

P.S. I go back to Uni soon, so I will be doing less posts weekly, maybe sticking to 1-2 posts a week preferably on the weekend. But if you have any requests feel free to let me know in the comments below, they would be much appreciated.

Purity 3-in-1 cleanser for face & eyes by Philosophy 30ml

Purity 3-in-1 cleanser for face & eyes by Philosophy
30 ml sample from August Glossybox

In my August Glossybox which you can see reviewed here, I received this sample bottle (30 ml) of the Purity cleanser for face & eyes by Philosophy. Now I have heard so much about the Philosophy brand and was extremely excited to try this little number. I believe I have read up on this cleanser and YouTubers and Bloggers have raved about this and I wanted to know if it was worth the hype. I can actually say it isn't in my opinion. Sorry you lovers of this product out there. But here is why.

Let's speak of the negatives first, the product itself is very oily on the skin. I squirted a little on a cotton pad and wiped it over my clean face. It does foam up and does cleanse the skin don't get me wrong, but it just leaves a horrible oily residue feel to my skin. Now you all know if you follow my blog that I have oily skin so this didn't really agree with my skin type and that's a definite deal breaker for me. On to the positives though, I love the smell, it reminds me of the antibiotics we used to have as kids, the banana scented one, can you remember it? It smells divine. I would say whilst on the face it can be seen as greasy, it does however, work a treat to remove stubborn eye make up, so I suppose that's an upside.

All in all I would say that for oily skin types this isn't so great for the face as a cleanser, it does remove dirt and whatever, but it leaves an oily residue on the face. But as an eye make up remover, it's brilliant. I suppose this would be a great little sample bottle to take travelling as a quick cleanser fix, but I think I'll stick to the B.Pure cleanser which I have been using for months (reviewed here).

Hope you guys enjoyed,
Stacey :D
